Working parents in Hounslow know the morning squeeze: one child at a primary school in Hounslow West, another at a secondary school in Isleworth, and a train to catch at 8:10. A pre-booked school run takes one moving part out of that morning. We match your family with a licensed local driver who knows the roads around the school gates, turns up at the agreed time and drops the children where you have asked.
We are a booking facilitator, so every journey is carried out by a TfL-licensed private hire operator and driver. Licensing in London includes an enhanced DBS check for the driver, vehicle inspections and insurance for hire and reward. You can ask to see the driver's licence badge at any time.
How a Hounslow school run booking works
Most families start with a quick call to our booking team. We ask for the school, the start and finish times, the number of children, any after-school clubs and the days you need. From that we give you a fixed price per journey or for the week, so there are no surprises at half term.
- Tell us the pick-up address, the school and the bell times.
- Choose the vehicle: a saloon for one or two children, or an MPV for siblings or a shared run with another family.
- Ask for child seats or booster seats if your children need them. These are provided on request.
- Agree who can hand over and collect the children, and how the driver should confirm drop-off.
- Receive the driver and vehicle details before the first run.
Regular drivers and familiar faces
Children settle better when they see the same face each morning. When you book a regular run you can ask for a regular driver, and the operator will try to arrange it. If your usual driver is off, you are told in advance who is covering and what car they will arrive in.
Getting through Hounslow's school traffic
School-gate traffic in Hounslow is at its worst between 8:00 and 8:50. Roads such as the Great West Road (A4), Bath Road, Hanworth Road and the Staines Road (A315) through the town centre all slow down at the same time. Local drivers plan around this. They know which side streets have drop-off space, where a car can stop safely and where it cannot. That means less time idling and a calmer start to the day.
For secondary pupils who travel further, for example from Hounslow to schools in Twickenham, Feltham or Brentford, we build in extra time on days when Twickenham Stadium has an event or roadworks close a lane. Typical journey times across the borough are 10 to 25 minutes, but we always plan using the real start time of the school day rather than a best-case estimate.
Shared runs and SEN transport
Two families on the same street with children at the same school can share one MPV and split the cost. Our 6 seater taxi and 7 seater taxi options are ideal for this. If you need transport for a child with special educational needs, tell us about any routines, communication preferences or equipment when you book. We will tell you honestly whether we can match the request with a suitable driver.
Beyond the school day
The same service covers school trips that start early, sports fixtures, exam days and the last day of term when there is a suitcase to carry home. Boarding pupils flying home from Heathrow can be collected from school and taken straight to the terminal; see our Heathrow taxi from Hounslow page for terminal advice.
Safety first: drivers will only hand over or collect children in the way agreed with the parent or guardian. If plans change on the day, call us rather than messaging the driver directly.
Paying for school runs
You can pay by card or cash. Many parents prefer a weekly or termly arrangement, which we can set up when you book. Prices are fixed for the agreed journey, so a slow morning on the A4 does not change what you pay. If a run is cancelled because the school closes, let us know as early as you can.
If you are a licensed driver interested in this work, see our school run driver jobs in Hounslow page.
Frequently asked questions
Are your school run drivers DBS checked?
Every journey is carried out by a TfL-licensed private hire driver. TfL licensing includes an enhanced DBS check, and you can ask the driver to show their licence badge.
Can my child travel without an adult?
This depends on the child, the school and what you agree with us at booking. Tell us your plan for handover and collection and we will confirm whether the operator can carry it out.
Do you provide child seats and boosters?
Yes, child seats and booster seats are available on request. Tell us the age and weight of each child when you book so the right seat is fitted.
Can two families share one school run?
Yes. A shared run in a 6 or 7 seater MPV is a popular way to split the cost. Each family confirms its own pick-up and drop-off details.
What happens if the school finishes early?
Call us as soon as you know. We will move the collection time if a driver is available, and confirm the new time with you.
